30 days of being thankful- community

30 days of being thankful- community Nov 9, 2018 Today our community experienced extremes- our girls’ volleyball team competed in the state finals preliminary match- they lost and will compete tomorrow for 3rd place - but what a wonderful achievement and they are to be congratulated on a superb year. This community came together and the outpouring of support is fabulous. We also experienced a heart-wrenching tragedy as a young girl took her life. Again, this community came together to surround her family and friends with love, prayers, and support. These two pieces of life cannot be more different, but what they share in common is that both of them are embedded in community which can provide meaning and aid in facing life whatever it brings.

I am so thankful that God made us a people to live in community. Our community surrounds us and loves us and carries us in our grief even when we are so disconsolate that we can’t recognize their presence and they celebrate with us when we are at our most joyful. Our community helps shapes us and forms us. May we never take the power and the need for community for granted. Thank you God for this gift.
