30 days of Thanksgiving –Thanksgiving Day -Nov 22, 2018
After a full day of seeing family, I am safely home. I still have things to unpack and put away, but I am thankful for the safe return. Today had a bitter sweetness about it- some family members were not able to make it because the distance to travel or obligations with spouses’ family. One was not present for a different reason. This was our first Thanksgiving after my Uncle Jim’s death this summer. We missed his presence - his dry sense of humor, but his spirit graced us today with little memories. I give thanks that death does not bring an end, but a new beginning and though our hearts grieve at the loss of a loved those people never leave us as we carry them in our hearts. When the grief is heavy, thank you Lord for your strength and comfort to endure. Thank you that through you there will be a banquet bigger and better than any Thanksgiving spread imaginable as you bring us together for our resurrection homecoming feast. Meanwhile thank you for memories and hope that sustains us
